Monatsschrift - ICONDie neueste Nummer JANUARY/2012Icon 103 is out now and we invite readers to nail this issue of the magazine to the wall. For Icon’s Annual Report, Iwan Baan, the most celebrated architectural photographer of his generation, has selected his 12 best images of the year. The globetrotting photographer travelled 190,000 air miles to take these pictures: we present them as a calendar for 2012, one photograph for every month he took them ¬– which you can hammer up and use. Icon tracked down Baan in Spain, en route from Switzerland to New York, to shadow him in action. We also spoke to Steven Holl, Herzog & de Meuron and Rem Koolhaas to find out why Baan is their preferred photographer and what makes his pictures unique. It has now been a year since Icon’s redesign. To mark this we asked leading international critics, curators and design experts to choose their cultural highlights of the past 12 months and choose their “Six of the Best”.
Up front there’s Daniel Libeskind’s meteorite-like Museum of Military History in Dresden, a nature-inspired art space by Ryue Nishizawa, Ball-Nogues’ crater in the California desert, the 9/11 memorial and new design from Eindhoven, Vienna and Qubique in Berlin. In Review we examine revolutionary Soviet ambition and the utopian visions of the Japanese metabolists, and look back at the tragic art of Gerhard Richter. Kontakt: |
